"I was diagnosed with PMA (Progressive Muscular Atrophy). This disease affects certain muscles and can also affect your respiratory system over time. I've always stayed active, employed for 43 years and have had this disease for 37 of those years. I've been in and out of physical therapy for different ailments, majority were contributing factors of my disease. I became familiar with Physicians Physical Therapy and was a patient for 3 years off and on. I then became a member of their wellness center. With the staffs support and assistance, I was made aware of specific exercises and exercises equipment to utilize for strengthening my legs and arms. I was also shown cardio equipment for burning fat and to help with breathing. I didn't know how much this would help until I took a breathing test at the doctors request. The result had areas of concern but I continue working out at the gym and did more cardio exercises. I saw my pulmonary doctor who ordered 5 breathing tests and all came back normal. I thank Physicians Physical Therapy for their continuous support and encouragement, this has given me motivation to keep on keeping on."
